Bill Johnson and Kris Valloton speak about their plans to consolidate the activities of their cult at Bethel Church in Redding, California…

I hope you were able to listen very carefully to this discussion. These men are not speaking of true Christianity, nor of the Creator of the universe. Their arrogance and lack of fear of the Lord is palpable. They worship a false god, preach a false gospel and are expanding the influence of their false teachings at an alarming rate. Please pray for those who are caught in the deception of Bethel Church, Jesus Culture and their many new age/occult activities. Please also pray for these men, as they too are lost and in need of salvation. (I make no assessment of the eternal destiny of these men, only their current spiritual state. Their repentance, should the Holy Spirit so move them, will lead them to salvation).

Of you want to know why I refer to this group as a cult, please read the following article from the Apologetics Index:

Introduction

The term ‘cult of Christianity‘ is used of a group, church or organization whose central teachings and/or practices are claimed to be biblical or representative of biblical Christianity, but which are in fact unbiblical and not Christian in nature.

The term can also be applied to groups, organizations or churches whose ‘statement of faith’ or ‘statement of beliefs’ may sound orthodox, but who add aberrant, heterodox, sub-orthodox and/or heretical teachings to such an extend that the essential doctrines of the Christian faith are negatively affected. (Examples: Seventh-day Adventist Church, International Church of Christ).

There are many other well-respected definitions of what constitutes a cult, all of which describe Bethel, Bill Johnson (its ‘spiritual father’) and the wider New Apostolic Reformation. No doubt many people thought the first Mormons were just a bit strange, and wouldn’t amount to much. Ironically, people are still saying the same thing about the NAR.

It’s time Christians called Bethel and the NAR for what it is, a cult. We need to reach out to those caught in this particular deception, in love and with the true Gospel of Jesus Christ. Many churches here in Australia are being poisoned by these men and their false teachings. Would you allow Mormons or Jehovah’s witnesses to come and teach at your church? If your answer is no, then a) you are not a Mormon or Jehovah’s Witness, and b) you should be speaking out against these false prophets as you would against said Mormon/JW’s.

Please, I encourage you to pray about these things and speak to other brothers and sisters in Christ. Do some research. That is why this blog exists. I was given my wake-up call…so I am sharing a year’s worth of research with you to save you some time.
