The Sunday sermon link is up early today…another encouraging but challenging Christ-centred sermon from Pastor Mbewe from Zambia. If you have a chance, also check out his new sermon series on The Cross at Sermonaudio.com.
Romans 11:17-21
English Standard Version (ESV)
17 But if some of the branches were broken off, and you, although a wild olive shoot, were grafted in among the others and now share in the nourishing root[a] of the olive tree, 18 do not be arrogant toward the branches. If you are, remember it is not you who support the root, but the root that supports you. 19 Then you will say, “Branches were broken off so that I might be grafted in.” 20 That is true. They were broken off because of their unbelief, but you stand fast through faith. So do not become proud, but fear. 21 For if God did not spare the natural branches, neither will he spare you.
May the Lord richly bless you as you hear His Word preached faithfully.

I have read his sermons before… This is the first time I hear him speaking. Is he the one they call the “Spurgeon” of Africa?

Yes, that’s the one. He preaches in the power of the Holy Spirit and it is extraordinary to hear. The transcripts are great too, but if you can find time to listen to him preach (particularly his sermon on the Exaltation of Christ, which I think I posted at some point), I cannot recommend it highly enough. It is humbling to see the work of godly men in Africa, and to realize that whilst they need our prayers, and perhaps our practical support at times…they hardly need the weak efforts of gospel-free missional emergents or PD Lifer’s to come and save them from themselves. God’s Spirit moves mightily throughout the world, and Africa is no exception. It is marvelous to behold, and is partly why I share this pastor’s sermons!
