WE HEAR IT often said that the reason why we go through trials is for our refining and while there is truth in such a statement, there can also be a great misleading. Today’s prevalent motivational speaking (worlds apart from Biblical preaching) endorses and promotes self-preservation and improvement. This is no different from secular society at its best that always strives to elevate itself to the pinnacle of self-satisfaction.
“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28) is that beloved verse that brings unspeakable comfort and encouragement to millions around the globe, but I wonder how many see the ultimate purpose of such glorious truth.
