A fascinating lecture by Patrick Woods, editor of The August Forecast and Review. An economist and fellow Christian, his experience and insights are valuable in understanding world political, economic and social changes we are now witnessing.
The August Review website has many well-researched, balanced articles on globalization, technocracy and the emerging new world order. I encourage you to read through some of the key articles on offer!
Patrick Wood is not correct in connecting the original technocrats with his belief in conspiracy theory connected to Brzezinski. Technocracy ideas were NOT connected with bankers or mainstream economic ideas. Technocracy concepts were not connected with a new world order concept either. Wood may argue that Technocracy ideas formed the base of Brzezinski type thinking, but that is doubtful. They are very different concepts. Google Technocracy movement for more information on the actual concepts of energy accounting and science based social design.

Interesting, thanks for your comment. Feel free to share specific quality links if you have some knowledge on this subject. There is certainly much going on in the world that is concerning, and having a range of sources is always helpful when trying to make sense of it all. I am happy for resources to be shared here.

Sure. Thanks for your interest.
Here is a basic history of biophysical economics… sometimes referred to as thermoeconomics http://www.eoearth.org/article/Biophysical_economics this is much closer to Technocracy ideas.
This mentions the role of Technocracy ideas in the history of energy economics. Patrick Woods, though perhaps well meaning, does not understand that our information is not connected to things like smart grid or world orders etc…. I don’t think he understands how different the ideas are of ‘mainstream’ and Technocracy. I think he claims that N.w.o. people, if you believe in that sort of thing, used Technocracy information, but that is really a stretch.

Thanks for the links TechRef. From what I have read, technocracy seems to me to be a modern form of marxism/socialism. If so, this blog won’t be the place to dig deep on the subject as the main focus is on faith-related issues, despite my posting the occasional social or political article. Still, I am glad to have the dicussion.
I am struggling to understand how a Christian could justify involvement with such a movement, given that the Scriptures are very clear about what we can expect in the time to come until the Lord’s return. I would be very interested in learning how you became involved, and to hear your Christian testimony. It’s just that according to the Scriptures, troubled times and persecution of the saints will increase until Christ returns. We are seeing this happen before our eyes, even in the West. It is not a change in the way we conduct our economy and society that will change or prevent this, or change the world for the better. The Scriptures never promise this…quite the opposite in fact!
We are paying a heavy price for the endless technological ‘advances’ of the past few decades…many of these ‘improvements’ have in fact devastated our environment, families and workplaces. Whilst I can see the appeal of technocracy and social engineering to those who are not Christians, they have no appeal or relevance to me except to be aware that they exist and impact on our society. Having done a psychology degree, I am aware of just how much ‘social engineering’ is taking place in our schools, workplaces and places of false worship. I don’t feel inclined to encourage it further.
I did find the page below to be most interesting and perhaps the best indicator of where our views part ways:
technocracy.org/basic-livingtn/religion/102-religion-and-technocracy
From the above link:
What is Technocracy’s attitude toward religion and the church?
“Technocracy insures complete freedom of belief and worship to every individual, unless, of course, the expression of that freedom involves some practice that is inimical to the social good. For instance, should some sect start promoting and practicing human sacrifice, such practice would certainly be dealt with firmly. In this latter instance, religion is considered as a mode of action, and modes of action call for quite different handling from modes of belief, where the greatest possible freedom may be allowed.
There is nothing in the program of Technocracy that would prevent groups of people from joining together in a common project such as the erection of a place of worship. Whomever they might choose as their clergyman would be released from other functions to perform full time as their spiritual adviser. He would, of course, continue to receive full consuming power along with all other citizens. The removal of the necessity to finance the minister’s services and to pay for the place of worship would lift one of the heaviest burdens which Church goers must shoulder in the interests of their belief. Technocracy has long pointed out that when the mortgage is removed from the outside of a church and the collection plate is removed from the inside, then true religious principles might be practiced.”
I am not enamored with technology the way many are. I cannot see how the pursuit of technocracy as a way of resolving society’s ills fits into the life of a believer. There is no biblical foundation for pursuing political rule or social engineering. It is unbiblical to fellowship with people from false religions, so I can’t see how a true Christian could be a part of this movement to any great degree.
In relation to your other comments, the ‘NWO’ is a term used by business and political figures around the world (Obama seems fond of it). There are books written by proponents of globalization that use the term openly. It would appear to be an openly pursued agenda, not a conspiracy theory. I think Patrick Woods is trying to make sense of these things for Christians and has contributed valuable information on many topics. If he has misunderstood something in the connection between the early technocracy proponents and what is happening now, perhaps let him know your views. It is disrespectful to call him a ‘conspiracy buff’, and it seems unfounded to merely dismiss the issues that are clearly in front of us in this world. For all of our human ‘progress’, I am entirely unconvinced that we have progressed much at all. But we sure are good at convincing ourselves that we have!
I will do some further reading as it is an interesting topic, but can see already that this is not something that I would pursue much further. However, thanks for the opportunity to learn more about this movement and its beliefs. Don’t take my somewhat anti-technology attitude to heart…clearly I am using technology as I type this, so I don’t see it all as evil or useless. Just most of it. 🙂

Very interesting, NP.
I know of the TC and have heard the term “Technocracy.” If fact, I used an old cartoon with the term in a post on my old News Blog. I wish I knew where it was but, if I run across it, I will share it here. Much of what the video presents seems to line up with the events of our day. As NP stated techref, maybe you can provide some documentation to back up your statements. Facts are facts. Those identified in the video were/are members of the Commission. We certainly seem heading towards a world where we can be tracked at all times. This gives the video credibility in its claims. I believe we are headed towards a one world government and religion. We seem to be well on our way there. Biblical prophecy (and Jesus) tells of a coming Great Tribulation. I think the elite are only heading us into that awful time. As a Christian, I don’t know how everything on earth will play out as we near the Second Coming of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. This is one fact that all can count on. This and the fact that “every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus is Lord.”
Will this happen during my lifetime. I am not a date setter, but I do think it is possible. Jesus said to watch and that is what I intend to do.
God’s blessings NP and techref…

Interesting link, Techref.
I really have little to ad to NP’s response except that I think “all roads are leading to Rome” so to speak. As I stated previously, ” I believe we are headed towards a one world government and religion.” I don’t know if technocracy will play a part in this or if it will be abandoned. Time will tell.
God’s blessings…
