A compelling documentary, even more relevant now than when it was made two years ago. Seriously…don’t miss this one.
From the SuperPower Movie website:
Since the fall of the Soviet Union, the U.S. has emerged as the pre-eminent superpower of the world. SUPERPOWER goes behind the scenes of America’s national security apparatus and military operations to illustrate America’s quest for global dominance through economic and military strategy. Framed by dozens of interviews with notable experts such as historian Noam Chomsky, Commander Eric Haney (founder of Delta Force, the Army’s counterterrorist arm), and Dr. Sergei Khrushchev, son of Nikita Khrushchev, all of whom offer analysis of U.S. foreign policy, SUPERPOWER exposes this quest with a review of historical events and archival footage. What emerges is a view of U.S. international policy in stark contrast to that depicted by mainstream media and U.S. heads of state.

This is worth watching AND discussing.
Even though it’s a bit outdated, this documentary shows that President Eisenhower’s warning of a “Military Industrial Complex” has become a reality. With the national debt at 16+ Trillion (something we will never pay off), I think some cuts in the military are necessary. Sometimes, I think our current president would chose to have as little a military as possible. I hate war, but I think we should defend ourselves and that we should support Israel. What is most bothersome is our sales of high end fighter jets to countries like Egypt, which are less than 20 minutes away from Israel.
With or without us, God will protect the promised land. Will the verse (about Damascus) in Isaiah 17 be fulfilled in our lifetime? I think it will but I would never set a date. Will the scriptures about Egypt becoming a wasteland be fulfilled? Of course they will because God’s prophets said they would be.
I am watching America fall apart spiritually, morally, socially, financially, etc. I don’t plan on seeing a penny of the social security money that has been promised to me. I will work until I fall over or until Jesus returns.
I would prefer the latter.

Chris, having grown up with Americans, studied American history and culture all through my schooling life as an MK, and now with many American friends…I would like to declare that I am rather fond of Americans. It seems clear that the US situation is simply part of the bigger, diabolical plan that is playing out in the world, and Obama is merely a pawn in a deadly game…regardless of how powerful he may think he is. In reality, the governments of all other countries have blood on their hands too, either through their actions or failures to act. Australia’s governments have willingly followed the US and the UK into wars for many decades, and continue to adopt godless policies here too. In fact, in some areas we were way ahead of you in the depravity stakes (at least until recently)…for example, abortions have been both legal and covered by our government healthcare system for at least a decade now. Your taxes pay for someone else’s abortion, problem-gambling counselling or perhaps for Rudolph Steiner’s anthrosophy to be taught in the local elementary school. Hooray for Aussies.
I sense very strongly the heartbreak and fear that Americans are experiencing right now. Even from when I was growing up in American schools (albeit, overseas), things have changed dramatically. It certainly feels as if God has turned his face away from our Western countries, the USA included. I am not saying he has, as I would never presume to know such things, but when I read OT stories I see our countries reflected in the stories of the ancient Israelites. And just like them, the remnant remains. I share the deep grief other believers are feeling, both for the lost, and for the suffering of our brethren…it’s as though we should be in sack cloth and ashes.
People away from the US have a hard time equating what they see on the TV with real, everyday American people. I try to be careful with what I post, as I don’t want to feed that even more. However, the reality is that along with many other countries, the US government has participated in heinous acts of terrorism, treason and murder…all for political and economic gain. The more they (and their true master) are exposed, the more we can make rational decisions going forward, in the light of truth.
I find it takes a lot of research from many, independent sources to get a clearer picture of what is really happening in the world (and even then, it will never be the whole truth!). This documentary is only one piece of that bigger picture, but is certainly thought-provoking. Many would no doubt think it was over the top. I suspect if we knew the whole truth, this documentary would seem like a Disney film. I have been reminded lately of who the god of this age actually is. Take that thought, and then try to think if there are any limits to what some would do for their master. History has shown us there aren’t, so it shouldn’t have to run to crazy conspiracy theories to realize that there is worse to come. Still, I don’t want to get caught up in unfounded speculations, so I welcome feedback each time I post such things. Thanks! Sherryn

Hi Sherryn.
Thanks for the lengthy response. It’s always nice when someone shares how they feel about America and it’s not completely warped. There is a remnant here as well in your country.
I completely agree with what you “said” about the documentary being “like a Disney film” compared to reality.
On the subject of the influence of American television (and movies) on other nations, I can’t express how embarrassed I am. Every so often a decent movie is made, but the majority are ungodly and worldly. I think the last movie I went to see was a few years back with my young adult “children.” Thankfully, they (Hannah, 21 and Grant, 19) are like my wife and I. They won’t watch junk.
“…the US situation is simply part of the bigger, diabolical plan that is playing out in the world…” This statement is so true. Here is something that might interest you. It is posted on my blog.

Maybe you wish to keep your Facebook page separate from your blog, but you can share your posts with your FB friends. You are probably already aware of this, but I just wanted to mention it in case you didn’t know.

LOL, lengthy response…me? No way! 😉 Will watch the film this evening and get back to you.
This sermon, from a UK pastor I am a bit fond of (only because he preaches the Scriptures faithfully, in through the power of the Holy Spirit), sums up how we can view America and the rest of the world right now. As Gervaise points out, the Lord Jesus said that the end times will be like in the days of Noah. This sermon well illustrates how the situation in America (and indeed, the world) is no different to that all of mankind throughout all of our sordid history.

So please, don’t be embarrassed as if it is unique to the US. Our SBS channel, which is our government funded multicultural channel has the most awful, explicit shows on it, from all over the world. Even the news is graphically violent. Hey, I live in a country where many things that are illegal in at least some of your states (gambling, prostitution etc.) have been legal here for many years. So no pride here! I can’t even watch TV anymore here, as even the advertising just makes me nauseous… or downright cranky. Anyway, people can always throw out their TV’s. No one is making them watch the rubbish they do.
Be encouraged that the some of the most ‘awake’ Christians I have met come from the US. The Lord is still working powerfully through his remnant. I am so thrilled to see so many brothers and sisters in Christ being called out from the false church in the US and lending their voices to the cause of defending God’s truth. It is stunning to see. 🙂
Regarding FB, I have considered this. I would like my posts to go to my FB but don’t want to lift the restrictions on who can see my FB as I have family photos on there. If I can do that I would be very happy, since I am back on FB I might as well. Any hints?

I appreciate your encouraging words, Sherryn. I didn’t know that things were so bad in your country.
I will start listening to the sermon this morning and will probably have to finish up after work. I’ll let you know my thoughts afterward. 😃
Even though I’m ok at blogging, I am clueless when it comes to FB. Sorry I can’t help you there. 😞
Have a great day and may God bless you and your family. 🙏

No worries, I will work out the FB stuff. As for Australia, to be honest much of it I hadn’t really thought about until the last couple of years. Amazing, isn’t it, how the Holy Spirit opens our eyes not only to the truth of God’s word, but also to the state of the world around us. Blessings to you too, Chris.

Hi Sherryn.
I finished listening to the sermon by Gervase Charmley on my way to work today.
I particularly liked his handling of the text he shared in Genesis 6. As he said, there are many ideas about how to handle the “giants in the earth.” There is speculation that I disagree with on one of my favorite prophecy sites.
It is nice to know there are still faithful ministers of the Word in the U.K. We could use a few C.H.Spurgeons in our day.
It is amazing how God opens our eyes to the truth. As Jesus said: “Apart from me you can do nothing.” It is a very humbling verse. We balance this verse with the incredible worth we must have in God’s eyes because of the great love that Jesus proved for us on the cross. My self-worth (I shy away from the term self-esteem) comes from that great love that I will never understand this side of heaven.
Thanks for sharing the link with me.
God’s blessings…
BTW…the symbol that looks like a mushroom cloud at the end of my last reply is supposed to look like praying hands. That’s what it looks like on my cell phone. 🙂
