Watch Your Life and Doctrine Closely...
Twitter is such a goldmine of goofiness and Christian confusion. I honestly don’t follow many goofy people/ministries because I try to not be a sucker for punishment, but sometimes things just make me laugh/cry enough that I tend to want to share them. I check out IHOP’s Twitter feed from time to time and have a chuckle (or a cry), and I do so with a few other groups/ministries. One of the constant goldmines of goofiness/outright insanity is the Planetshakers Twitter feed. Planetshakers is a church in Australia that also has a monstrously large music ministry. Well, they have a band that puts out a lot of material and is based out of the church. That band is pretty much a Christian pop act masquerading as a worship band. Hi there young lady – it’s been a long time since I saw either of the Evans boys in action, clowning around on the stage (er – hmmph) preaching from the platform on anything. I well remember back in 1998/99 how there was much speculation as to whom Andrew Evans (their father) would hand the ‘batton’ to (pastorate of Paradise church).
Of course, that was never in doubt – it certainly wasn’t going to be any of those outsider ‘wannabees’ that had faithfully served the AOG for 20 or 30 years… Like many situations of today, it was always going to be one of the kids – long live the ‘corporate family church’, where mum and dad give the front door keys to the kids, when they retire – and look what they’ve done with it…
As if RHB and the ‘laughing revival’ wasn’t enough, now it seems that it’s in a right old mess, but never mind, God will always “bless the mess” won’t He? I was surprised to hear of Guy Sebastian’s involvement too – when did he get back into the swing of things?
Here’s a word of knowledge for you dear lady:
“Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.” (Romans 16:17, 18)
Keep on ‘marking’ the false prophets, so others may avoid them – that’s the spirit…
Austin
